I think you did ok, a screenshot would have been better. Some advise, next time don't wait until next time you see them to ban them. Do it within the same time period that he did what he did. (just advise on how I would have delt with this)
If you miss the chat onscreen. Press your tilde button and page up/down and
take screenshots of all the text as you go. That way you can get a running
take on all that had been typed, even the admin commands. Just make sure
the password is not in the screenshots.
I do this quite often as seen in some of my posts. This way you make sure
its recorded, especially the bad stuff.
